What is electricity aggregation and how does the billing process work?
Aggregation means the sale of electricity from renewable energy sources such as photovoltaics, wind, biogas or hydropower. In this process, the electricity is traded directly on the electricity exchange through an aggregator like LUOX Energy and remunerated, instead of being handed over to the local grid operator for a fixed EEG feed-in tariff.

Protection via the Market Premium
LUOX Energy pays you the remuneration from the electricity exchange, minus the costs for aggregation. This increases the long-term profitability of your installations. In addition, you receive the market premium from your distribution network operator, guaranteed for 20 years, providing financial security.
The reference value remains the same throughout the entire subsidy period, while the distribution between the market premium and the market value changes monthly.

The LUOX Pricing Model – Without Risk Surcharges
Our pricing model is transparent, fair and works well even in today's volatile markets. It guarantees that no risk surcharges are added and passed on to you.
Here’s how it’s structured:
- The electricity feed into the grid is remunerated on an hourly EPEX day-ahead spot price.
- A fixed service fee based on the generation capacity of the plant.
- A variable service fee, which is a percentage of the compensation for the electricity fed into the grid (3%).
- The marketing costs are passed on transparently.
- A one-time setup fee of €200.

Aggregation is a model in which energy producers sell their electricity directly on the electricity exchange instead of using fixed feed-in tariffs. They benefit from fluctuating market prices, which are determined by supply and demand and can thus achieve higher earnings. This method relies on real-time data and smart systems to optimize energy sales. It is particularly lucrative for plant operators whose installations are supported by the EEG subsidy scheme and who benefit from the market premium.
Electricity can be directly marketed by energy producers such as operators of photovoltaic, wind and biogas installations. These producers must connect their plants to the electricity exchange (via an aggregator) and can then sell the electricity they generate at current market prices.
That depends on your current setup. If you are already participating in aggregation, a switch can be completed within seven working days. If you are switching to aggregation for the first time and all technical requirements - such as remote controllability, real-time data access and installation of a metering system with load profile (RLM meter) or a smart metering system (iMSys) - are already met, the switch can take effect on the first day of the following month, i.e. within 4–8 weeks. If these technical requirements are not yet fulfilled, the necessary installations must first be completed, which typically takes an additional 6–8 weeks. The transition to aggregation can begin thereafter.
For aggregation, we charge a one-time setup fee, a small monthly base fee and alow percentage of your earnings. In addition, we will invoice you for the costs associated with aggregation.
With LUOX Energy’s aggregation, the electricity produced by your installation is sold directly on the electricity exchange, rather than being fed into the grid via the network operator. We take care of selling and aggregating your electricity, making sure you receive a fair and competitive market-based remuneration.
